GREASY LIPS CLUB

MUSIC:

This night is rocking Dirty South every month and after an incredible party in February, they have pulled out all the stops with another five of the best unsigned bands and an amazing DJ set by the host for the night, Alan McGee.

The format continues with Alan and event partner Jamie Kelly handpicking another four of the best unsigned bands and giving them the opportunity to perform on the Greasy Lips Club stage. Alan will offer his time, knowledge and advice to the bands and also push the acts and event through his blogs.

In addition to this great live line up, Alan himself will be DJing. McGee's sets are notoriously eclectic, spanning punk, indie, rock and always a few surprises thrown in for good measure. Greasy Lips residents Soulboymystic Collective will also be on hand to take the dancefloor into the night!

The acts Alan McGee has been involved with over the last 20 years, reads like a who’s who of modern British indie/rock (the guy has managed everyone from Mogwai to The Charlatans to The Libertines and launched the careers of Oasis and The Hives). He fashioned Britpop out of his original Creation Records imprint and triumphantly returned with the Poptone label. As you can imagine, this new concept club night not only offers a platform for those involved to push their sound, but a chance to really develop their own path for the future.

All the ingredients are in place except one – just add people!

ALABAMA 3 PRESENTS OUTLAW

MUSIC:Sweet Mutherfucking Country Acid House music.

The Guardian has called them ‘the best live band in the country’.

Their music has graced everything from ‘The Sopranos’ to ‘The Simpsons’, and they can boast a host of celebrity fans. Irvine Welsh, author of ‘Trainspotting’ describes Alabama 3 as “the first band I could ever dance to in the daytime hours without chemical assistance...” and the world’s biggest selling author, Stephen King, has twice invited them to play an acoustic set at his book launches.

For the last three years Alabama 3 have been hosting a regular (and very irregular) party weekend, running over two nights at Dirty South and Brixton Jamm.

‘Outlaw’ is not just another club night. It is an event, a happening - never to be repeated and not to be missed.

Alabama 3 have had a very busy year over 2009, which explains their absence from Dirty South. They released The 12 Step Plan (an album of remixes chosen by their fans) and have been working on their new album Revolver Soul, which will hit the streets this spring.

They will be heading off on tour in May, but before that they are coming to Dirty South. The show will be headlined by Alabama 3 Acoustic and Unplugged, who bring a whole new dimension to the songs made famous by Alabama 3. This isn’t acid house music, this is country/gospel/delta blues, but played with a rhythm you’ve still got to dance to.

The support will bring together exciting expect live acts performing country, blues, funk, punk and dirty old rock n roll, all cut with an alternative edge, and seamlessly brought together by DJs playing grooves that keep the audience on the floor. Expect the unexpected…

THE HOLLOWAYS

MUSIC: Indie/ Rock

This new night to Dirty South has been delivering to the London live scene some incredible nights since September and has now found the home it has been searching for all this time. The second of these was named NME’s 16th favourite song of the year and the subsequent album “So, this is Great Britain” also gained rave reviews. Their second album "No Smoke, No Mirrors" was released in October 2009 and was also the talk of the press with many print and online journalists offering brilliant reviews including IndieLondon who amongst many favourable quotes, inform -

“It’s a ray of musical sunshine to guide you through the winter months – trust us!” Review by Jack Foley for indielondon.com On the night there will be four further bands who will be hand picked to ably support the headline and add to what already looks to be another sell out occasion. This is the second instalment of what we expect to be a great year for I Heart…Live at Dirty South.
